The Northern Lights Express Alliance, a group focused on making the passenger rail service between Duluth and the Twin Cities a reality, has hired a federal lobbyist. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is on track to file an application for hundreds of millions in federal funds in December. The proposed 152-mile rail line received a $195 million boost from the state in 2023, but didn’t get the federal support it needed to move forward. It has another shot this fall and The Directors Guild of America has been hired as chief lobbyist for securing financial support for the project. They are a prominent lobbyist for Government Affairs on Capitol Hill.
