Alan Sparhawk

Alan Sparhawk is one of the elder statesmen of Duluth's alternative music scene. In the band Low, which he founded with his wife Mimi Parker, he created a sort of slow and emotional rock that resonated with audiences local and worldwide. He's also been in a wide array of other bands, including but not limited to: Retribution Gospel Choir, the Black Eyed Snakes, and Feast of Lanterns. All of these projects channeled his songwriting into varied and exceptional music. He remains active with his solo career, having released two albums as of 2026 (including one with local compatriots Trampled by Turtles).
